Pea Ridge National Military Park

The Battle of Pea Ridge in March 1862 was one of the most decisive engagements of the Civil War — Union forces shattered two Confederate armies and secured Missouri permanently for the Union. The 4,300-acre battlefield in the Ozarks is one of the best-preserved Civil War sites in the country, with a 7-mile tour road and the remains of Elkhorn Tavern, which changed hands twice during the battle.
