Fort Laramie National Historic Site

Fort Laramie was the most important waypoint on the Oregon, California, and Mormon Trails — the last place emigrants could resupply before the mountain crossing that could kill them. It later became a military post central to the Indian Wars, the site of treaty negotiations, and a Pony Express station. Twenty-two original and restored structures stand amid Wyoming's vast grasslands.
