Unity Temple in Oak Park, Illinois is considered Frank Lloyd Wright's first wholly modern building. Built in 1908 from poured concrete — a revolutionary material choice — it abandoned historical ornament in favor of geometric abstraction and natural light. Wright called it his "jewel box." A UNESCO World Heritage Site, its interior is one of the most serene spaces in American architecture.
